Carya Illinoisensis x Carya Ovata/Carya Lacinosa
This year we have a limited number of Hican trees from a Hershey Hican tree. Hicans are amazing examples of tree breeding; crossing shagbark, bitternut, or shellbark hickory with northern hardy pecan. The results can be pretty amazing. Large, easy shelling nuts, on trees that are hardy to zone 4, and experimentally in colder climates. We are very excited about these trees. Keep an eye out in coming years for more varieties of hican seedlings and grafts.
HICAN
Tree will be between 16-24" tall.
We like to sell our trees in groups of 3 or more. Most of the trees we grow require pollination, which happens most efficiently by planting multiple trees. If you’d like to order individual trees, reach out to us and we may be able to make a special arrangement. Visit our Planting Guidelines and Resources page for how to care for your trees. Orders will ship when the trees are dormant, which is mid November for fall orders and late March-April for spring orders. Local pickup is also possible. If you’re interested in wholesale as a retail nursery or are doing a large scale planting, please get in touch with us, we offer bulk discounts on orders of 30 trees or more.
