Hybrid Hazelnut (corylus avellana x americana)

These shrubs are grown from exceptional seed sourced from the Finger Lakes region of NY. They are a cross of American and European hazelnuts. While the nuts are a bit smaller than European hazelnuts, their American genetics provide more hardiness to the Eastern Filbert Blight, and improved cold hardiness. Some of this cohort of seedlings planted on our farm have begun to flower in just 3 seasons! 
 
The plants are three years old, in three gallon pots.
