Sunchoke (helianthus tuberosus)

Sunchoke (helianthus tuberosus)

$12.00Price

Beautiful perennial native sunflower that towers at up to 10' tall. Tubers are delicious when roasted, similar to a potato.

They are very adaptable to many soil types.

Pollinators love the flowers, which bloom around late September in zone 5. A lovely treat to have such sunny flowers in late autumn!

Two varieties available:

  • yellow-skinned - traditionally managed as a food crop
  • red-skinned - naturally occurring on our stream banks on the farm! Smaller and less productive tubers, but just as beautiful
